Diabetic Meal Plan

Never say no to diabetic meal plan if you're already diagnosed with diabetes. There is a basic guideline of what should be eaten and should be restricted when having this diet plan (which you can find in another page of this blog).

Other thing which is also important is that this diabetic meal plan should be done under supervision of the doctor or health care provider or nutrition expert. They might arrange a diabetic menu for daily meal (you can see the example on foods for diabetics).

The following tips on diabetic meal plan may be helpful;
  • Try to limit carbohydrates, refined sugars especially. To fulfill your body needs of energy, choose complex carbohydrates that include fiber.
  • The healthy foods may include non-starchy vegetables, heart-healthy oils, meat, fruits, dairy and grain.
  • It is really, really important to arrange the diabetic meal plan with the doctor. The doctor will tell you how much calories that you require based on your height and what type of diabetes that you have.
  • Be aware of foods containing saturated fats and cholesterol, as heart issues is the closed family with diabetic issues.
  • Start to be aware of the quantity of food that comes in to your body as well as their calorie content.
  • Provide at least 2-3 hours between meals.
  • Meals should be taken at least 5 times.
  • Write down a meal time schedule to help maintaining your mealtime regularly.

However, diabetic meal plan will never work if you don't take action to execute the plan.

Diabetic meal plan may sound like a complicated work. But trust me; all you need is a little practice and planning. Besides, diabetic diet plan is not about completely avoiding your favorite food. Just like any other healthy diet, this is also about balance.

I do hope you live healthier with diabetes ^-^
