Blood Glucose Levels Chart


In this post you will see some blood glucose levels charts. Please not to be confused because every chart has its own meaning.
However, before you go to those charts, it’s better to get reviewed about what blood sugar levels are.
As our body needs energy, we eat carbohydrates-rich foods which are the main source of energy. The fuel inside the carbohydrates is glucose which will absorbed by the body's cell to produce energy. Glucose is one form of sugar, that's why we called glucose in blood as blood sugar (or blood glucose).
To make sure the process of absorption of glucose by the cells is properly carried out; insulin takes the most important part. Insulin is produced in pancreas.
There are two kinds of anomalies which involved insulin. First one, if the pancreas failed to produce insulin resulted insulin deficiency in the body, it will affects the process of breakdown of glucose and causing significant increasing in blood sugar levels (type-1 diabetes).
The second is, the pancreas is doing its job very well and produces sufficient insulin for the body, but the body won't respond to insulin. It is also causing high blood sugar levels (insulin resistance or type-2 diabetes)
A significantly high blood sugar levels are also known as hyperglycemia and an abnormally low blood glucose levels are known as hypoglycemia.

It is very important to maintain our blood sugar levels in normal ranges.
One cause that makes our blood glucose levels become higher than normal range is consuming high glycemic carbohydrates which can lead to further serious problems, like heart disease, diabetes, blindness, kidney damage and amputation. That's why main prevention of abnormal blood glucose levels is by managing what you eat. Eat heart healthy diet, like whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean protein and essential fatty acids (eg: omega 3 fish oil). Avoid trans-fat and keep saturated fats low. And don't forget to have regular exercise.

By the way, you can measure blood sugar levels by yourselves. You'll need a sugar meter for this purpose. Usually, you'll need to prick your finger and put the blood on the testing strips into the sugar meter. Make sure you read the instruction before starting to use the device.
The best time to get an accurate test results are before breakfast and two hours after a meal and before going to bed. Use the above glucose levels charts to compare the results of your blood sugar test.
